After one very bad argument with my wife which led to a temporary separation I realised I had an anger problem which needed dealing with. I was recommended to John by a friend and, after four appointments, the problem has been solved - hopefully for good. What I thought was an anger problem turned out to be something else - poor communication on my part, as well as my wife's. John taught me how to speak clearly when irritating problems came up, instead of ignoring things and letting the anger build up until it turned into rage. My wife also came to see John for two sessions and we now have a much better relationship. We also really enjoyed the sessions with John. In fact, during most of my sessions with him I was constantly laughing - he really does have a great sense of humour! Mr TL Surrey

THERAPY in Central London and Berkshire and on Skype

I work from my London office, in this nice-looking building on the right at 85 Wimpole Street, close to Oxford Circus, on Thursdays and Fridays. Otherwise from the office at my home in Kintbury, West Berkshire, UK on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Nowadays I also use the free Skype videocall service for clients in the USA and elsewhere.

I can work with with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, alchohol, drug and gambling addictions, anger and other emotional problems, relationship and sexual problems, confidence issues and many other difficulties besides. Email me if you have a different problem you would like to ask me about.

Due to the fact that I don't spend much time at all on exploring the past, or dwelling on theories about my clients' misfortunes my work tends to be brief. 4 or 5 sessions is common although, naturally, some people need longer than that.

My focus and my approach varies with the problem and with the client and I never work the same way twice. See my Tools section on the left of this to find out more about my techniques. 4 key things to know about my approach are these:

1. I will be intensely interested in you as a person and I want to get to know you at the deepest level you can go to as soon as I can. This may be unsettling for some.

2. I work on all levels - conscious mind, sub-conscious, body, emotions, actions, brain and behavior. I work intensely and thoroughly because I want the changes we work on to be permanent.

3. I keep all my agreements with my clients and I expect them to keep theirs with me. I will ask you to do a great many assignments between sessions and practice the techniques I show you. Doing them ensures rapid progress.
